Installing Sense Forms
How to install and activate Sense Forms, and what happens the first time you do.
Sense Forms needs WordPress 6.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. It has been tested up to WordPress 7.0. Nothing else is required — no account, no API key, and no external service.
Install from your dashboard
- Go to Plugins → Add New in your WordPress admin.
- Search for Sense Forms.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
Install from a ZIP file
- Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the
sense-forms.zipfile and click Install Now. - Click Activate Plugin.
What happens on activation
Sense Forms creates its own database tables for forms, entries, visitors and sessions. Your existing content is not touched, and no data is sent anywhere.
You are then taken to a short setup wizard. It asks for a notification email address and a brand colour, and you can leave it at any point using the Skip setup link — the WordPress toolbar stays visible throughout, so you are never trapped in the wizard.
After setup you will find a Sense Forms item in the admin menu with five screens:
| Screen | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Submissions over time and traffic source breakdown |
| Forms | Create, edit, duplicate and delete forms |
| Entries | Every submission with its attribution data |
| Analytics | Site-wide visitor analytics and per-form conversion rates |
| Settings | Tracking, spam, email delivery and privacy options |
Tracking starts immediately
The tracking script is active as soon as the plugin is. It is 4 KB gzipped, loads asynchronously, and records how visitors reach your site so that attribution data is ready the moment someone submits a form.
If you would rather it did not run yet, go to Sense Forms → Settings and turn off Enable tracking. You can turn it back on at any time.
Removing Sense Forms
Deactivating the plugin stops it running but keeps all your data, so you can reactivate without losing anything.
Deleting the plugin only removes your data if you have enabled Remove all data on uninstall in Settings. That option is off by default — deleting the plugin with it off leaves your forms and entries in the database untouched.
If you plan to delete Sense Forms permanently and want the database cleaned, turn that setting on before you delete the plugin. Once the plugin files are gone the option cannot be applied.
